Back-on-Track Disaster Recovery Program

In response to Hurricane Helene’s destruction and devastation in Western North Carolina, the North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) today announced the creation of the Back-on-Track Disaster Recovery program, a disaster and recovery relief program for North Carolina communities. NCRR will provide $10 million to the new impact fund and plans to distribute award amounts based on a needs assessment.

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to:

Rail-served industries affected by Hurricane Helene, seeking funding for track infrastructure repairs.
Non-profit economic development organizations (EDOs) in need of support for operations stabilization.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

Operate within one or more of the 25 North Carolina counties designated as disaster areas by FEMA.
Ensure that all proposed capital projects and operational activities are located within these designated areas.

Eligible Activities

Qualified activities that took place after Hurricane Helene and before the grant award date are eligible for funding.

Application Deadline

All grant applications must be submitted by November 15th.
