North Carolina Railroad Company Invests $500,000 for New Manufacturer’s Rail Needs in Gaston County

The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) will invest up to $500,000 to help with onsite rail for Fit Precast’s new headquarters and concrete pipe production facility in Gaston County. The company says it will invest $102 million towards the new facility and will create 125 full-time jobs with an average annual salary of $102,168.

Fit Precast will manufacture precast concrete and piping products that are critical components to stormwater management, transportation and utility construction for infrastructure-related projects. The company will build a 154,000-square-foot facility to house its administrative and manufacturing operations to meet regional and national demand.

Through NCRR Invests, the North Carolina Railroad Company uses private revenue to support job creation, freight rail use and long-term economic growth across North Carolina. NCRR will fund up to $500,000 for a new rail spur to serve the site in Gastonia. The funds cover the design and construction of the rail project including drainage, track and signal work.

The company will use the newly constructed rail project to receive and/or distribute a minimum of 500 rail cars annually.

In addition to the Office of Governor Josh Stein, North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and the North Carolina Railroad Company, other key partners in this project include the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Gaston College, Norfolk Southern, Duke Energy, Enbridge, Gaston County, the Gaston County Economic Development Commission and the City of Gastonia.
